Today's business electronics - they're expensive, sensitive, and they require a steady flow of electricity.

Price Electric Cooperative delivers clean, quality power. But power surges, which can be caused by lightning strikes, trees touching power lines, even turning on a vacuum cleaner, are common. Power surges from lightning alone cause an estimated $500 million in damage to electronics each year.

Most surges can be avoided with proper surge protection. Price Electric Cooperative offers the smart solution to protect your valuable equipment.

Price Electric Cooperative provides you complete protection
Circuit breakers, built-in equipment surge protection and power-strip surge protectors are helpful, but don't give you the complete surge protection you may need. They aren't fast enough or powerful enough to prevent damage from catastrophic surges like lightning, which can deliver multiple, back-to-back surges. They also don't provide adequate protection from "back door" surges (ones that can travel across phone lines and cable or satellite TV hardware).

You can purchase surge protection equipment at our office. Please call for more information.

    Two stages of protection
Point of entry - Choose from two units to protect your business' wiring and major equipment from power surges outside the business: A meter-based unit can be installed by an energy professional from Price Electric Cooperative.. Just e-mail us or give us a call if you would like this option.

Or you can purchase a main panel device that can be installed by a qualified electrician. Both the meter-based and main panel device include a manufacturer's lifetime connected equipment warranty on white appliances, up to $10,000/appliance ($100,000 maximum).

Point of use - These second-stage surge suppression devices provide protection from "back door" surges and surges that originate within the building. Unlike many surge protectors sold in stores, the Secure Home products feature thermal fusing which prevents the device from overheating and potentially causing a fire.

UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) - Protect your computer from surges and protect your data from power outages. A UPS unit not only has built-in electric and phone surge protection, it also has a built-in battery backup that will instantaneously take over the power needs of your computer in the event of an outage. The UPS unit can run your computer for up to 10 - 15 minutes and give you time to finish what you were working on, save it, and back out of your programs in an orderly fashion. When power is restored at your outlet, the UPS unit will automatically switch your computer back to regular power and start recharging the UPS battery.
